Templeton High students find understanding for 9/11 remembrance after stair climb

Posted: Updated:

The third annual 9/11 Stair Climb took off at Templeton High School Monday morning.

CAL FIRE SLO and Templeton Firefighters climbed more than 2,500 stairs, equivalent to the 110 flights of stairs first responders climbed in the Twin Towers 16 years ago.

Firefighters received encouragement from the Templeton middle and high school students who climbed alongside them. Many of them - if not all - were infants or had not been born yet when the four planes were hijacked.

Teachers say when students participate in the stair climb, they leave with a new appreciation and understanding for that historic day.
