AmpSurf wraps up latest surf therapy session

Posted: Updated:

Disabled veterans, first responders, and others with disabilities experienced the healing power of the ocean thanks to a local nonprofit.

The participants traveled to Pismo Beach to work with AmpSurf's trained and certified adaptive surf instructors. AmpSurf calls it Operation Restoration.

"They may be missing a limb, they maybe have PTSD, they get out there and forget all about those things, are up in the ocean getting out there in the waves and just the healing aspect of the ocean," said Jim Stitt, president and CEO or AmpSurf.

The five-day event ended Monday night with a memorial paddle-out followed by dinner at the Oceano Elks Lodge. This marks the 12th year of AmpSurf's Operation Restoration.
