Former Paso Robles head football coach Rich Schimke blasts school board at meeting

Posted: Updated:

The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District held a public school board meeting Tuesday evening. Former head football coach Rich Schimke spoke to the board and community members about his frustration with the administration.

Schimke was dismissed as the Bearcats head coach in October of 2016 after a controversial video showed Schimke doing what's been reported as a "body shot" of maple syrup from a football player's belly button inside a school locker room.

Since then, the Bearcats has gone through interim head coach Matt Carroll, head coach Larry Grant, and now interim head coach JR Reynolds. There have been four coaches in the past five games.

Paso Robles superintendent Chris Williams says Grant and the school decided to mutually part ways four days after the Bearcats dropped its home opener.
