A Santa Barbara City College football player was arrested Tuesday for felony assault on a peace officer that happened Saturday night.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says deputies and UCSB police officers were patrolling around 11:40 p.m. when there was a large crowd and fight in the intersection of Del Playa Drive and Camino Del Sur in Isla Vista.

A crowd of "several hundred" reportedly were circling another group and fighting. When officers arrived, the groups scattered.

When two officer were trying to detain 18-year-old Issac Brown, he was forcefully resisting in a long-sleeved t-shirt that one officer had a grasp on. He then tried taking off his shirt, which was caught on the officer's wrist, and then used it to throw her down to the ground. The officer hit her head against the bumper of a parked truck and lost consciousness temporarily.

The unidentified police officer was taken to a local hospital, treated for a concussion and then released. Deputies say she is recovering.

Brown was identified by officers and arrested Tuesday for resisting arrest causing serious bodily injury and dissuading an executive officer by force. His bail is set for $25,000.
