CALFIRE SLO officials say the Huasna Fire burning about an hour east of Arroyo Grande is up to 60 percent containment.

The fire held within containment lines overnight after scorching 244 acres Wednesday.

Officials say crews are working in steep terrain with heavy fuels.

Firefighters will continue working to contain the fire throughout the day Thursday.

Firefighters were at the scene of a fire near the community of Huasna on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was first reported at about 1:40 p.m. from the area of the 4900 block of Huasna Townsite Road. The community is located east of Arroyo Grande.

As of 9:10 p.m., CAL FIRE said approximately 244 acres of grass and brush had burned and the fire was 45 percent contained. One structure was initially threatened but that threat no longer remained.

Multiple engines and firefighting aircraft were requested to help fight the fire. CAL FIRE said the fire was located in steep terrain that was difficult for ground crews to access but aircraft arrived quickly and were making good progress, including creating a retardant line around the fire.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fire is burning on an approximately 5,000-acre ranch owned by In-N-Out Burger.
