Construction on a new swimming pool at Morro Bay High School is almost complete.

The 25-yards x 35-meters pool is currently being filled with water.

It has different depths along with two diving boards and holds more than a half-million gallons of water.

Once finished, the plan is to use the pool for P.E., after-school activities, sports and community use during the school day.

"So, at this point, we've got to fill it. We are getting the restrooms finished out. They're getting tile in today," said Anthony Palazzo with San Luis Coastal Unified School District. "There's a little bit of site work around the perimeter to be wrapping up and then it's kind of that final polish and shine to be ready for October 6 (the grand opening)."

The total cost for the pool is about $6.5 million. It is being paid for with Measure D funds.
