Paso Robles High grad speaks to students about career as set designer

Posted: Updated:

A former Paso Robles High School student visited his alma mater to talk about his career as a professional set designer Wednesday afternoon.

Brett Banakis graduated in 2002 and spoke with theater students about his journey, education and successful career in hopes that students will be inspired like he was.

"I would not be here today without the support I had in this school, in this building," he said.

He lives in New York City, where he stayed after attending New York University.

"Having Mr. Banakis come all the way from New York, and his career on Broadway, to his home town and alma mater of Paso Robles, is inspiring as it is exciting," said Alicia Witman, an English teacher at PRHS.

Banakis is also the scenic supervisor for the upcoming Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
