First responders were called to the scene of a crash with injuries at 7:03 p.m. It happened where S. Blosser Road meets Carmen Lane.

The fire department documented the scene in a series of photos. The images depict a Ford Explorer Sport on its side after a crash. Another photo, which was tweeted by police, appears to show a white van that was possibly involved in the crash as well.

Two firefighters could be seen using heavy machinery to cut through metal as the rest of the SUV is propped up by blocks and a stabilization strut.

After all the cuts were made, firefighters grouped together to carefully remove the metal roof from the SUV without injuring anybody inside.

Two patients were taken to the hospital, firefighters say. It is unclear who was hurt or how serious the victims' injuries may be.

Firefighters say two fire engines, a battalion chief, a truck, urban search and rescue, AMR ambulance and Santa Maria police responded.

There were traffic delays in the area while the rescue was performed. The Santa Maria Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
