Candlelight vigil in Solvang to honor Las Vegas victims will include support services for all

Posted: Updated:

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is holding a candlelight vigil to honor the victims of the Las Vegas massacre and their families.

The vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5 in Solvang at the park on the corner of Mission Drive and 1st Street.

The Sheriff's Office says it will be a time for the community to come together and grieve.

Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kelly Hoover says community members will also be able to receive support services.

"This event has taken an emotional toll on all of us here at the department and individuals here in the area," Hoover said. "This vigil is a way to bring people who are mentally distraught together for support and to remember the victims and process what happened, and that pain that might not be going away just yet."

The Santa Barbra County Response Network will set up a ''Compassion Center" in the park.

The sheriff's office will also be providing a crisis intervention team to offer support and talk to the public.
