Man asks boy if he wants ride to school in Grover Beach, police say

Posted: Updated:

The Grover Beach Police Department says some schools in the city were notified Wednesday after a man reportedly asked a boy walking along the 1500 block of Longbranch Avenue if he wanted a ride.

Police say the 11-year-old denied the man's offer and told staff at Grover Beach Elementary about the interaction once he arrived at school. Staff then reportedly called police.

Officers say they checked the area for the vehicle described by the boy, but did not find anything. Police also notified other law enforcement agencies and two other schools in Grover Beach of the report.

The man has been described only as being white, around 40-years-old and wearing a black baseball cap and orange shirt.

His vehicle is described as being a black, four-door Subaru with a license plate number starting with "3."

Anyone with information should call Grover Beach police.
