Allan Hancock College hosts career exploration day

Posted: Updated:

The 13th annual career exploration day is happening on Friday at Allan Hancock's Santa Maria Campus.

It's located in the commons toward the center of campus starting at 9:30 a.m. and running through 2:45 p.m.

This year more than 3,000 students are expected to explore careers. In previous years, this event was open to high school and college students. This year junior high school students were as invited as well as part of the Bulldog Bound program, a component of the new Hancock Promise.

"The goal of the event is to expose high school, junior high school, and college students to career opportunities on the Central Coast and to make sure they know how to prepare for the careers of their choice," said Nohemy Ornelas, associate superintendent/vice president of Student Services.

The last event drew more than 100 exhibitors, and is an opportunity for employers to connect with potential future employees and inform them about training and education needs.
