6 things to do this weekend on the Central Coast

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Here are some of the events happening around the Central Coast:

SATURDAY, OCT. 7

Learn about fire safety
9 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Elm Street Park, Arroyo Grande
10 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Fire Station 1, 115 South G Street, Lompoc
11 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Rite-Aid parking lot on Los Osos Valley Road, Los Osos
Local fire stations host activities to kick off Fire Prevention Week. Events include live demonstrations with firefighters and activities for the whole family.
Free events.

Morro Bay Harbor Festival
10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Embarcadero between Harbor and Marina streets, Morro Bay
The event includes live music, a Hawaiian shirt contest, oyster eating contest, dragon boat races, a yacht regatta, vendors, food, wine tasting, and children's activities.

Wags n' Whiskers Festival
11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Santa Barbara City College West Campus
The event features adoptable dogs, cats, and bunnies from local shelters and rescue groups, plus working dog demonstrations, a dog fashion contest, talent contest, and kids' activities.

Santa Maria Beerfest
11:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Elk's Field, 600 S. McClelland, Santa Maria
Enjoy beer from more than 30 breweries, plus food trucks, corn hole, beer pong, and live music. Proceeds benefit the Santa Maria Noontime Kiwanis.

SUNDAY, OCT. 8

City to the Sea
5:30 a.m. - 1/2 marathon last chance registration and packet pickup
Union Bank parking lot, Court and Higuera streets, San Luis Obispo
6 a.m. - 5K last chance registration and packet pickup
Dinosaur Caves Park, Shell Beach
The half-marathon begins in downtown San Luis Obispo at 7 a.m. and ends at Margo Dodd Park in Shell Beach. The seaside 5K begins and ends at Dinosaur Caves Park starting at 7:30 a.m.
Registration: $45 for the 5K and $100 for the half-marathon

Fall Harvest Festival
1 - 5 p.m.
City Farm SLO, 1221 Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo
Meet the farmers, take part in planting and harvesting activities, and learn yoga, plus cooking demonstrations, live music, hayrides, and more.
Donation of $5 requested.
