Siren growl tests will happen today, Wednesday, Oct. 11, in San Luis Obispo County.

The sirens are part of the county's early warning system to alert residents in the event of a tsunami or dam failure, as well as emergencies at the Diablo Canyon power plant.

The county conducts quarterly growl tests each year.

County officials have not released what time the sirens will go off Wednesday, but residents do not need to do anything if and when they hear the noise.
