Cal Poly men's soccer prepares for Blue-Green rivalry

Posted: Updated:

The Cal Poly men's soccer team will travel to UC Santa Barbara Saturday night to take on the Gauchos in the first leg of the Blue-Green rivalry.

The Mustangs will be without senior captain Adam Olsen for the match after he received a one-game suspension for getting a red card in Wednesday night's 3-2 double overtime loss against Sacramento State.

Cal Poly is winless in its last three trips to UCSB so they know how important it is to play well on Saturday night.

"Yeah, they're very hungry to play against Santa Barbara," Cal Poly head coach Steve Sampson said. "We try not to talk about that game during the week when we have another team to play. It's very difficult to keep concentration, but I think the guys did a very good job of that. I think that's a game where both teams come to play. They are always great classics. It's a great, great rivalry and both teams will entertain on Saturday."

The Mustangs and Gauchos kick off at 7:00 p.m.
