Zombie Glow Run returns to support local shelter animals

Posted: Updated:

The fourth annual Zombie Glow Run will soon return to Santa Maria to support local shelter animals.

On October 28, zombie runners will take off from the start line outside the Santa Maria Animal Center on Foster Road.

Runners can choose from a 5K or 2K run and can enhance their zombie-costumes with free glow sticks at stations along the race route.

The event raises funds to help homeless, sick or injured shelter animals.

Jordonna Rea of the Santa Barbara County Animal Care Foundation says money raised from the run will pay for medical care a pet's owner cannot afford.

"The Animal Care Foundation will step up for any three of our shelters here in Santa Barbara County," Rea said. "What we believe is that any animal that comes here should not be euthanized because there's no one to pay there bills."

There will be live music at the After Glow party and well as catered food.

Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for kids.

The event runs from 4:30-8:00 p.m. on October 28.
