Nipomo water rates to increase

Posted: Updated:

Nipomo residents will soon be paying more for their water.

The Nipomo Community Services District Board of Directors adopted a water rate increase and new uniform rate structure at its meeting on Oct. 11.

The new uniform rate structure eliminates tiered rates. All users will now pay $4.97 per unit of water used. Fixed and Volume Charges will increase an average of about 9 percent per year until 2022. The rate increase goes into effect on Dec. 1.

The District says the rate increase is necessary to keep up with operating costs and the cost of importing supplemental water from Santa Maria.
