Lompoc looking to clean up minor mistakes ahead of LPL rivalry against St. Joseph

Posted: Updated:

There are two weeks remaining in the regular season for high school football on the Central Coast, and a dandy line up for Week 9 is Lompoc hosting Los Padres League rivals, St. Joseph.

The Braves improved their season record to 8-0 last week as they beat Santa Ynez, 17-7. The Pirates gave Lompoc everything they had and it caused quite a bit of discomfort for the Braves offensively and defensively.

Lompoc can wrap up at least a share of its 8th straight LPL title with a win over St. Joseph Friday night, but in order to do that, Head Coach Andrew Jones says they have to clean up their mistakes from a week ago.

“Just some of the things that are routine in our passing game and some of the things we’ve been doing all season long, for whatever reason, it was let there," Jones said. "I don’t think we’ve fumbled a snap all year, and we fumbled two of them. So obviously, we have to fix all those things. We’ve been working on them. These guys just have to learn from last Friday, come in and be ready to roll."
