Bring a children's book, get a discount on high school football game in Orcutt

Posted: Updated:

At a Friday night football game in Orcutt, you can bring a children's book and get a discount on tickets.

Admission will be $5 instead of $8 for adults, and kids who bring in books will get in free to see the face-off between the Pioneer Valley Panthers and the Righetti Warriors.

The books will then be donated to kids in need.

Righetti's ASTRA (Ability, Service, Training, Responsibility, Achievement) Club organized the effort "to connect with the community and raise the level of literacy with younger students," said Kenny Klein, spokesperson for the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District.
