Groundbreaking celebrates improvements at Arroyo Grande hospital

Posted: Updated:

The Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Foundation is looking forward to some major improvements at the hospital.

Officials held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday night outside the emergency room.

The project will add about 5,000 square feet to the existing emergency room and increase patient treatment spaces 20 rooms. Currently, there are only 11 rooms.

Administrators say the improvements will make the hospital better equipped to serve and care for the community.

"These transformations truly are the way for us to fulfill our promise to support the medical needs of our community today, tomorrow and for generations to come," said Kerin Mase, President & CEO of Marian Regional Medical Center.

The emergency room makeover and other projects, including expanding cancer care, will cost roughly $17 million.
