Local foster family highlighted during National Adoption Month proclamation

Posted: Updated:

November is National Adoption Month, and to further that effort, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors have proclaimed the same for the county.

They used the proclamation Tuesday to raise awareness and increase education and outreach for kids in need of a home.

Tami and Daniel Carlisle have adopted three sibling foster kids into their family. They say they've learned how to be selfless and that their biological kids have learned the same.

"We've learned a lot about what love is, and what unconditional love is," they said. "Cause sometimes the kids are just different or harder and we've gone through making a lot of sacrifices because we are a big family."

The Carlisles have seven kids in their home right now - two biological children, the three adopted siblings, and two foster children.

Two of their adopted children passed out adoption month calendars to the supervisors at Tuesday's meeting.

County officials say more than 350 kids need foster homes or to be adopted in San Luis Obispo County.
