Foster kids to attend Disneyland for the first time

Posted: Updated:

Ten local foster kids are getting a chance to go to Disneyland for the first time.

The Noah Scott Foundation is sponsoring the event in memory of Noah, who lost his battle with leukemia last June at the age of 15.
According to Noah's dad, Charles Scott, Noah loved getting to see his foster siblings have fun at Disneyland.

"He really didn't care for the rides, but he always enjoyed watching his brothers and sisters coming into the park for the first time," Scott said. "So a way to honor Noah and his memory is by inviting kids who have never been to Disneyland before and see their reaction when they walk in for the first time."

The non-profit and Santa Barbara Child Welfare Services will be traveling to Disneyland on Wednesday morning with a busload of people.

"We are excited to see their little faces light up at seeing the happiest place on earth for the first time!" wrote Scott.

The Scott family has fostered nine kids and adopted one, with another adoption in the works.

The foundation is sponsoring the trip, which they hope to make an annual event.

Jordan Scott, Noah's 14-year-old brother, also wanted to help out and took it upon himself to raise money for the charter bus. Jordan's parents say he raised more than $2,000 by holding bake sales.

Team Noah started the nonprofit to honor the teen's legacy and say they have annual golf tournaments, Disneyland trips, scholarships, and sports-themed mission trips in the works to support and encourage people in the Lompoc community and Santa Barbara County.

Charles Scott said they just want to live up to Noah's legacy of loving other people.

"My wife and I say we have the rest of our lives to live up to Noah's 15-year legacy," he said.
