Paso Robles takes on Damien in first round of CIF playoffs

Posted: Updated:

The Paso Robles High School football team hosts Damien in the first round of the CIF Division 4 playoffs Friday night at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bearcats have had quite the season on and off the field. After an up and down non-league schedule, Paso turned it around and went 4-0 in PAC 5 play to win their first league title since 2010. This is the sixth year in a row that the Bearcats have qualified for the postseason.

Paso hopes to carry its momentum from league play into its first round game against Damien.

"They're extremely excited that they get to host a home game," Paso Robles head coach JR Reynolds said. "It's kind of been our next step; let's go win a home game that a lot of people don't think we're going to win. That's where we're at and our kids are excited about it. We've got a lot of good energy out here with some young guys that we called up for the postseason. We've had a good week."

"It's just been, keep working and keep working,"Paso Robles wide receiver Daede Murphy added. "Don't doubt the system that our coaches provide for us. They provide the best they can and it's been amazing."

Paso Robles and Damien will kick off at 7:00 p.m. Friday night.
