Posted: Updated:

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is once again gearing up for its annual Christmas Bike Giveaway.

The program is in need of helmet donations ahead of the event, which is taking place mid-December at the Sheriff's Honor Farm.

There, various children in need throughout San Luis Obispo County will be given a refurbished bike and new helmet.

To request an application to receive a bike, click here or send an email to Sergeant Matt Andrews at mandrews@co.slo.ca.us. Applications are due by November 30.

Inmates housed at the honor farm are currently working to repair the donated bikes.

Anyone who would like to donate a children's bike or helmet can drop them off at any sheriff's office patrol station or the Sheriff's Honor Farm on Highway 1 near Cuesta College. Adult bikes are unable to be accepted.

To send money to the program, now in it's 28th year, mail a check to:

Sheriff's Advisory Council
Attn: Bicycle Fund
P.O. Box 3752
San Luis Obispo, CA 93403

Applications are due by November 30.
