Rain returns later this week

Posted: Updated:

More locally gusty offshore winds during the night and morning hours into Tuesday will keep low clouds off the coast, however, there is significant high cloud cover streaming across the area.

A low-pressure system spinning away near the Gulf of Alaska will drop south Thursday and shoot a cold front across the area.  .10-.50" of rain looks likely with some mountain locations along the northern SLO coast getting as much as an inch of rain.  Snow levels look very high due to some sub-tropical influence on the system, 7000' for the Sierra.

Partly cloudy skies and warm weather after the front with temps back into the mid-70s.  Another frontal passage could bring rain next Monday but currently, the bulk of activity appears it could stay north of the area.
