The Orcutt Academy football team erased a 21-point deficit Saturday night in the CIF Division 1 8-man football semifinals, only to see Faith Baptist score a go-ahead touchdown with under two minutes to go, giving the Contenders at 56-50 win at Pioneer Valley High School.
The Spartans had to answer every punch the Contenders threw their way, more often than not, it was senior quarterback Darin Miller bringing Orcutt closer and closer. Miller finally gave the Spartans their first lead in the 4th quarter with a 37-yard touchdown run.
Orcutt finishes its season 9-3, while Faith Baptist advances to the championship game next week against Mojave.
