Local shelters offering adoption deals this weekend

Posted: Updated:

Local organizations are asking for help this weekend clearing animal shelters.

At the Woods Humane Society in San Luis Obispo, the shelter is waiving adoption fees for all the dogs and cats there Friday through Sunday as part of its "Black Friday Clear the Shelter Adoption Event." Normally, the shelter says, adoption fees range from $65 to $100.

Santa Barbara County Animal Services is also offering incentives to potential pet owners with "Support Your Shelter Saturday."

From 10 a.m. to noon, you can adopt an animal 5 months old and older for free. Adoptions are 50 percent off from 12-2 p.m. and 25 percent off from 2-4 p.m. Dog licensing fees will still apply, Santa Barbara officials say.

Last year, 63 animals at Woods Humane Society found forever homes during the Black Friday event. At Santa Barbara County Animal Services shelters, 74 animals were adopted from the three shelters during their holiday event.
