Blake Truhitte and Sandra Villapando from Santa Maria High School were honored as the Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table Athletes of the Week Monday afternoon.

Truhitte led the Saints to a 35-14 semifinal victory in the CIF Southern Section D12 playoffs by rushing for 184 yards and four touchdowns and passing for 166 yards and a touchdown. The senior quarterback also had six tackles and two pass breakups.

Villapando led the Santa Maria girl's wrestling team to a win at the Central Coast Girls Wrestling Association Tournament. She had four pins on her way to being named the 170-pound weight class Tournament Champion.

"My first goal was to place, that was my goal this whole season was to place," Villapando said. "I went in thinking I was going to place fourth and I was going to be happy with that, and I took first."

There was a not a round table last week because of Thanksgiving break but Allan Hancock sophomore point guard Shane Carney earned the honors. He averaged 21 points during the Home Motors Tournament as he led the Bulldogs to a Consolation Championship and was named to the All-Tournament team. Carney scored a career-high 28 points in the Consolation Championship in a 77-74 overtime victory over Yuba College.

"The last game I had a really good game. I was able to shoot well from the 3-point line and it helped the team to a 'w'," Carney said.
