A controlled burn is planned Monday at Morro Bay State Park.
According to State Parks, downed trees, branches and other materials will be burned during the operation in an effort to decrease fire risk from trees that fell during a storm this past February.
Monday's burn is part of a curtain burner operation, which is said to be more efficient than pile burns and results in little smoke emissions.
The area of Morro Bay State Park affected is between the main campground and the Ground Campground.
The campground closed last week to begin a new waterline project and is expected to reopen mid-February.
