Air quality warning issued for Santa Barbara County due to Thomas Fire

Smoke and ash from the Thomas Fire burning in Ventura County is drifting into Santa Barbara County Tuesday morning. 

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and County Air Pollution Control District are warning residents of poor air quality because of the fire.

The agencies issued an air quality warning for Santa Barbara County shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday. 

Authorities warn the smokey air may last for several days. 

Young children, the elderly and those with lung or heart disease should stay indoors and avoid exercising while air quality is impacted.
