Paso Robles & Atascadero renegotiating SLO County animal shelter deal

Posted: Updated:

Paso Robles and Atascadero are now back at the negotiation table over plans to construct a new San Luis Obispo County animal shelter.

Two months ago, the cities pulled out of the county deal and decided to build their own North County Shelter. At the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, Supervisor Debbie Arnold said after meeting with city leaders, the two towns are now willing to renegotiate.

"We got them back at the table and I'm hoping we can come up with a formula that everyone can be happy with," Arnold said.

The details of a new deal are expected to be presented in February, but they are looking to reduce the shelter's $14.5 million price tag and develop a feral cat spay and neuter program to help reduce costs.
