Some local War War II veterans are gearing up for a trip to Washington D.C.

Pacific Eye in San Luis Obispo presented a $5,000 check to the Honor Flight Network on Wednesday to help make another trip possible.

It's all part of Pacific Eye's "Gives Back Challenge," where the company will donate a total of $10,000 to ten local nonprofits this holiday season.

The money to the Honor Flight will pay for three World War II veterans to take the "Tour of Honor" to Washington D.C. this upcoming summer.

The veterans say it means the world to them.

"Very, very humble," said 91-year-old World War II Veteran Frank Lewotsky. "I think this is one of the few things I've never expected and I'm very very gracious because this is going to bring back a lot of beautiful memories and hopefully I will meet some guys that I've known before."

The Honor Flight is looking for more World War II and Korean veterans to join the flights this May and June. A total of 22 veterans and an additional 22 guardians will go on each trip.
