Cal Poly dorm residents affected by Thomas Fire can stay on campus through winter break

Posted: Updated:

Cal Poly says students who live in university housing and whose homes or travel routes have been impacted by the wildfires in Southern California can stay on campus for free during winter break.

Fall graduation ceremonies take place on Saturday and the dorms are scheduled to close that day as well. University officials say students who need to stay on campus should make arrangements with their Coordinator of Student Development.

The university is also offering support and counseling to students and employees impacted by the fires. Students should reach out to the Dean of Students Office at (805) 756-2472 and can call (805) 756-2511 for Counseling Services. Faculty and staff can contact the Employee Assistance Program 24 hours a day by calling 1-800-367-7474.
