Due to continued unhealthy air conditions from the Thomas Fire free N-95 masks will be handed out on Saturday.

It's part of a coordinated effort with the Santa Barbara Medical Reserve Corps, City of Carpinteria CERT, and Direct Relief International.

Hours and locations:

Costco in the Camino Real Marketplace (7095 Market Pl Drive, Goleta), 10am-2pm

Franklin Community Center (1136 East Montecito Street, Santa Barbara), 10am-2pm

Albertson's in Carpinteria (1018 Casitas Pass Road, Carpinteria), 10am-4pm

Santa Barbara Public Library (40 East Anapamu Street, Santa Barbara), Sat: 10am-5:30pm, Sun: 1pm-5pm

Mesa Produce (2036 Cliff Drive, Santa Barbara), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The N-95 masks require a tight seal to be effective. The available adult sized masks will provide limited protection for most children. N-95 masks, when fitted properly, provide some protection from the fine particles in smoke. Ordinary dust masks and surgical masks do not do this.

Masks will be available while supplies last. Limited two masks per person.
