Paso Robles Event Center opens grounds to house displaced livestock

Posted: Updated:

The Paso Robles Event Center has opened its grounds to be used as an emergency equestrian and livestock housing facility following the Thomas Fire.

The Event Center currently has 190 stalls available for rent, but individuals must call the emergency phone number at (805) 712-9005 at least three hours ahead of their arrival.

Equestrian and livestock arrivals must be arranged between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. under emergency scheduling. The Event Center is locked between 4 p.m.-7 a.m. Monday through Friday, as well as some Saturdays in December. The facility is closed on Sundays, as well as Christmas and New Year's Day.

A veterinarian arranged by the Event Center must clear all horses and livestock after a health inspection before stalling. The veterinarian on call is Dr. Colter Negranti of Paso Robles Equine at (805) 215-6501.

Currently, owners are expected to care for and feed their own animals, as well as clean stalls during their stay and before departure. The Event Center does not have feed or bedding on the grounds, and the closest locations to purchase feed in Paso Robles are Premier Ag or Farm Supply and Tractor Supply.  Animal care is to take place between 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

If in an extreme case an owner is unable to care for their animals, the Event Center will make arrangements. Arrangements can be made for RV hook-ups as well.

Each owner will be responsible to complete the necessary paperwork and billing associated with the animals they stall at the Event Center.

The Paso Robles Event Center's Administrative Office will be open 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. from December 11 to December 15, but will close for the holidays December 16, 2017 to January 1, 2018.
