More dry weather ahead this week with warm afternoons

Posted: Updated:

A large ridge of high pressure continues to dominate the Western U.S.

This will produce more of the same weather with cool to cold overnight lows with high temps in the mid-70s in the interior valleys and mid-80s in the coastal valleys. The beaches will stay in the low to mid-70s.

Overnight lows will drop to the mid-20s in the inland valleys and mid-30s in the coastal valleys.

Locally gusty offshore winds combined with dry conditions will keep fire weather conditions to be potentially dangerous.

An area of low-pressure will move over the top of the ridge Friday into Saturday and it'll crank up the NW winds to 15-25mph along the Central Coast, some of that wind will translate to the Southcoast as well and might contribute to new fire weather conditions depending on the status of the Thomas Fire late in the week.

Late next week into the weekend the mid-range models are suggesting a major pattern change that could bring a good rain chance on the weekend before Christmas.
