Paso Robles names J.R. Reynolds as permanent head football coach

Posted: Updated:

Paso Robes High School named J.R. Reynolds as the football program's permanent head coach after serving as the interim head coach for most of the 2017 season.

Reynolds took the interim role after head coach Larry Grant unexpectedly parted ways early in the season.

Reynolds acquired a turbulent program that was receiving a lot of attention from the community because of constant head coaching changes.

He led the Bearcats to an outright PAC-5 league championship as well as the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs.

"As a former Bearcat student-athlete, I am extremely excited to be the head coach of such a storied football program. The staff and I are looking forward to continuing to teach our student-athletes the importance of family, academics, and community," Reynolds said in a Paso Robles Joint Unified School District statement.

“I’ve been really impressed with Mr. Reynolds’ leadership and how he values a student-led program.  He is a genuine person and his passion for the success of students really stands out,” said Paso Robles Superintendent Chris Williams.
