CHP makes generous donation to Season of Hope

Posted: Updated:

The California Highway Patrol is doing its part to make this holiday season a whole lot brighter for hundreds of local children.

On Friday afternoon, a bus pulled up to KSBY Studios with around 100 toys inside for our annual food & toy drive, Season of Hope.

The CHP collected the gifts from their Walmart ChIPs for Kids Toy Drive in Arroyo Grande as well as a Toy Drive at Sentinel Peak Resources. SLO Vets Club and other community members donated toys to those drives.

"There's something just different about giving and that's the biggest thing that the highway patrol wants to do - make sure that we're there for everybody giving out service but to give a kid that's not going to get a Christmas present this year a toy and the look on their face - it's just unbelievable," said Jordan Richards of the California Highway Patrol.

This holiday season, the CHP collected about 1,000 toys for kids around San Luis Obispo county.

If you're interested in donating nonperishable food items or new, unwrapped toys to KSBY's Season of Hope, Friday is the final day.

You can visit one of these drop off locations or visit our studios in San Luis Obispo by 7 p.m.
