Saturday winds across Thomas Fire could hit 40mph

Posted: Updated:

An upper-level disturbance is working thru the West.  With that some dense air will start getting pulled into the area from the north, that will create a strong north to the northeast wind as early as tonight but more likely late overnight into Saturday morning continuing into Saturday evening.

Gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected across upper elevations with lower elevation winds being lighter however north to south canyon winds are also expected to be gusty.  The air will be very dry again with relative humidity 10-20 percent.  Red flag warnings are in place for the Thomas Fire thru Saturday evening.

The eastern edge of the fire will also experience higher winds later Saturday in Ventura County.  35-55mph winds are possible late Saturday night into Sunday.

Then the pattern becomes fairly quiet until Thursday next week when the winds will increase again.
