SBPD: Stolen fire gear recovered, returned to firefighters working Thomas Fire

The Santa Barbara Police Department said its officers were able to arrest on Monday two wanted felons suspected of stealing fire gear from firefighters.

Police say they pursued the duo Monday afternoon. The two were in a stolen car, which crashed. After the crash, officers engaged in a foot pursuit that ended with two arrests and the recovery of stolen firefighter gear, according to police.

SBPD says the gear was stolen Sunday night from firefighters from the City of Manteca Fire Department "while they rested from a hard day's work on the front lines" of the Thomas Fire.

Officers reunited the gear with its rightful owner and posted the reunion to social media:
