Rob Lowe thanks Thomas Fire crews for saving his home

Posted: Updated:

Actor Rob Lowe is publicly thanking firefighters for saving his home from the Thomas Fire.

He posed with a group of the brave crew members who've been working tirelessly against the fire as it's grown closer to homes in Montecito - including Lowe's own.

"Thank you to all the crews from all over the country who stood tall and saved my town," he wrote on Instagram.

Another shot showed the heroes enjoying a home-cooked buffet of burgers, spaghetti and more.

"Dinner for new friends at our house," he captioned the pic.

Before the meal, Lowe watched as the flames came uncomfortably close at times.

But he wasn't just a passive witness while the crews worked. The big and small-screen star even picked up a hose to help out.

"Helping earlier today," he wrote alongside the shot from Saturday. "You do what you can, but when it's time.. you GO."

Caltrans says that Highway 101 will be closed between Santa Barbara and Ventura indefinitely, making travel difficult for many people. Approximately 95,000 cars pass through this section of the busy freeway on a normal day, so the closure is forcing people to look for other ways to get around. Here some ways to get around the closure by car, train, ferry or plane. It is an important reminder that drivers cannot currently get around the closure by taking Highway 192 or other side...
