UPDATE (1:40 p.m.) - San Luis Obispo County Public Works has issued a Boil Water Notice for residents of Shandon due to a damaged water line.

County officials say a contractor working near the San Juan Creek Bridge on Centre Street accidentally damaged a main water line Tuesday morning, and as a result, the water system lost pressure.

County crews are reportedly on scene working to repair the water line.

Until repairs are complete and test results are available on Thursday, Dec. 21, people in Shandon are advised to use only boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution.

The community of Shandon is temporarily without water, San Luis Obispo County Public Works reported on Tuesday, due to a water line break near the San Juan Creek Bridge.

County Public Works crews are reportedly on scene and working on repairs.

This is a developing story and will be updated with new information as it becomes available.
