Wind event still likely Wednesday along with some showers

Posted: Updated:

Clouds are already coming in in advance of a cold front Wednesday.  While the air here has been dry for some time it still looks like some showers and drizzle will accompany the front thru the Central Coast, most places see less than .10" of rain, in fact, interior sections and south likely see no rain at all.

The bigger story will be wind: this front will be followed by 15-25mph northwesterly winds and cooler conditions on Wednesday afternoon and night.  Across the Thomas Fire, the winds NW-N will hit 15-30 with gusts 45-60 Wednesday PM into early Thursday.

Offshore winds and clear skies are forecast on Thursday, decreasing on Friday. A cooler air mass combined with clear skies will allow morning low temperatures to drop to the low 20s in the North County and low 30s in the Coastal Valleys.

Temps moderate into the weekend but another low comes in Sunday for cool and breezy conditions.

After X-Mas looks like better chances for rain as cold air backs in from the NE and low pressure spins up off the coast but this is a long-range forecast and we'll have to see how this develops.
