Air quality warning downgraded to watch in Santa Barbara County

Posted: Updated:

An air quality warning that has been in place for portions of Santa Barbara County for several days now has been downgraded to an air quality watch.

With increased containment of the Thomas Fire, the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District says air quality has "improved significantly" over the past several days.

Health officials say the use of leaf blowers is still discouraged, however, as there are still large amounts of ash in the surrounding communities.

The air quality watch is expected to remain in place through Christmas.
