UPDATE (12:45 p.m.) - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the deputies wounded and killed in Sunday morning's shooting at an apartment complex about 20 miles south of Denver.

The fallen deputy has been identified as 29-year-old Zackari Parrish.  Parrish had been with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office for seven months and is survived by his wife and two young children.

Those wounded were Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Doyle, 28, Deputy Taylor Davis, 30, and Deputy Jeff Pelle, 32 and Officer Tom O'Donnell, 41, of the Castle Rock Police Department.

Two civilians were also injured during the shooting.

During a press conference, Sheriff Tony Spurlock of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the four deputies were let into an apartment in suburban Denver to investigate a disturbance call made by a neighbor.  The suspect, who has not been identified, barricaded himself in a bedroom before opening fire on the deputies in an ambush style attack, said Sheriff Spurlock.  He also stated the suspect was well known to local law enforcement.

Sheriff Spurlock said multiple departments, including a SWAT team, surrounded the apartment building while the suspect fired more than 100 rounds.  The suspect was killed by officer fire while trying to retrieve Parrish.

Parrish was described as a "good kid... eager to work and eager to serve."

Officials say the suspect's roommate, who was in the apartment during the incident, is cooperating and the investigation is ongoing.

DENVER (AP) - Authorities in Colorado say one deputy has died and four others were wounded, along with two civilians, in a shooting in suburban Denver.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said via Twitter that the shooting happened after deputies were called to the scene of a domestic disturbance in Highlands Ridge early Sunday. The suspected gunman was also shot and is believed to be dead and "no longer a threat."

The shootings happened at an apartment complex 16 miles south of Denver.
A hospital where three people were taken for treatment says those people suffered noncritical injuries. Another nearby hospital said it received four patients but wouldn't release their conditions.
