Ahead of Monday's storm, many residents on the Central Coast are gearing up for the danger of flash floods and mudslides.

"I think everyone's concerned right?" said Kasper Allison. "Too much water, too quickly, is the jist of it."
With impending rain, Allison is concerned about his home near Westmont College.

"They always say it could be five inches but you could get one inch but you might as well be prepared for 10 inches so that's kind of our take on it," Allison continued.

Allison filled 15 sandbags hoping to divert water away from his home - a first for the 25 year resident who said the first location he visited wasn't open.

"I just never really thought about it before you know," Allison added. "We've only been in that house four, five years so it wasn't that big of a deal."

On Saturday, residents like Allison filled up their sandbags at one of the many sandbag locations throughout the Central Coast.

"Right when we opened it was a steady stream of people all the way up until now," said Rick Ornelas, City Annex Yard Manager.

Piles upon piles of sand disappeared all while Ornelas instructed residents on how to fill and properly stack sandbags.

Ornelas says residents are limited to 20 bags per visit.

Residents are urged to fill up their sandbags before Monday's storm hits in order to avoid the rush. Sandbags are free.
