Delta IV rocket set for launch Friday at Vandenberg AFB

UPDATE (1 p.m. Friday) - An issue with the ground helium system has pushed the launch back to 2:11 p.m.


UPDATE (10:35 a.m. Friday) - The launch of a Delta IV rocket carrying a payload for the National Reconnaissance Office is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday.


UPDATE (4:50 p.m. Thursday) - The launch has been scrubbed. 


UPDATE (1:49 p.m. Thursday) - The launch window has been pushed again to 2:05 p.m. Thursday.


UPDATE (12:48 p.m. Thursday) - A technical issue has reportedly delayed liftoff by nearly an hour. The new time is now 1:55 p.m. Thursday.


UPDATE (9:58 a.m.) - Wednesday's planned launch of a Delta IV rocket has been delayed for a day due to high ground winds, base officials announced Wednesday. The launch has been re-scheduled for Thursday with the launch window opening at 1:00 p.m.


A Delta IV rocket carrying a payload for the National Reconnaissance Office is scheduled to launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base Wednesday afternoon.

The launch window opens at 1 p.m.

Community members will be able to watch the launch from the Hawk's Nest located on Highway 1 a half-mile south of Vandenberg's main gate. It will also be streamed live on the United Launch Alliance website.

Weather permitting, this will be the first launch of the year at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
