Mission Prep football program returns to 11-man next season

Posted: Updated:

Mission Prep High School is transitioning back to an 11-man football program for the 2018 season.

The Royals varsity team will start the season playing three games as an 11-man team and play the remainder of the season as an 8-man program part of the Central League.

The junior varsity team will play as an 11-man program the entire season.

Last year, the Royals switched to an 8-man program under new head coach, David Schuster. "Mission College Prep remains committed to creating an 11-man football program," said Schuster. "After having a tremendously positive first year as head coach, I'm excited about our progress and direction. We are rebuilding the program at a rapid pace in a sustainable way."

The Royals finished the 2017 season going 6-2 with a trip to the playoffs where they lost to Windward, 33-30.
