Amtrak resumes train service through mudslide-affected area

Posted: Updated:

Train service through the area recently impacted by mudslides in southern Santa Barbara County will begin to resume Thursday.

Amtrak officials announced on Twitter that the tracks are now open between Oxnard and Santa Barbara.

Trains will be running with delays, however.

Train service southbound resumed Thursday morning with Train 768 from Goleta to Los Angeles. The train is running two and half hours behind.

Trains 782/792 from Goleta to Los Angeles/San Diego are resuming service Thursday too.

Also, Trains 774/796 from San Luis Obispo will operate through to San Diego, according to Amtrak.

If you are hoping to head north via train, Trains 761/769/785 will operate through to Goleta.

Additionally, Trains 763/777 will head north through to San Luis Obispo.

Due to the closure of Highway 101, Amtrak officials say bus service is canceled from Oxnard to Santa Barbara until at least midday Monday.

Amtrak officials say while service is resuming Thursday, travelers should prepare for delays.

Check the Amtrak website and Twitter page for updates on train service.
