Delta IV rocket launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base

Posted: Updated:

A Delta IV rocket launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 2:11 p.m. on Friday.

The rocket was carrying a payload for the National Reconnaissance Office.

The rocket was originally scheduled for launch on Wednesday but that was delayed because of strong winds at the launch site. On Thursday, the launch was scrubbed about four hours after the launch window opened because of an issue with a ground system valve.

The launch was the first launch of the year at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Base officials say the Friday launch was a success.
