Community remembers retired Cambria firefighter

Posted: Updated:

The Cambria community is remembering the life of retired Fire Lieutenant Dexter Upton.

Local first responders led a procession along Main Street to honor Upton and his many years of service to Cambria.

Residents paid their respects at a ceremony for Upton at Leffingwell Beach.

Cambria Firefighters posted a video of the ceremony to its Instagram page.

Upton started as a volunteer with Cambria Fire Department in 1966. He climbed the ranks and served as assistant chief until he retired last year.

Upton also worked as an EMT for Cambria Ambulance and served on the Cambria Community Healthcare District board for 17 years.

Upton was 73 years old.
